Custom fields: collect extra visit details in Systam Studio

Modified on Thu, 27 Aug at 2:07 PM

Sometimes the basics aren't enough. Maybe you need a visitor's company registration number, an access card ID, or something else specific to your organization. That's what custom fields are for.

What custom fields do

Custom fields let you collect extra details about visits and visitors. They can be filled in Systam Studio, or by the host in Systam Mobile while planning a visit or during sign-in.

Create a new field

Go to Settings → Custom fields → Field builder and click Create custom field.

  1. Give the field a name under Field name.
  2. Choose the field type: Text field for free text, or Select field for a set of predefined options.
  3. If you picked Select field, fill in the choices under Option 1, Option 2, and so on. Add more with Add new option, or remove one with the trash icon.
  4. Click Save.

Turn the field on for a visit type

Creating the field is only half the job — it also needs to be switched on for a visit type. Go to Settings → Visit types and open the visit type you want, for example Visitor. Scroll to Visitor information → Custom fields and check Enable custom fields, then save.

Once it's on, your fields show up on that visit type's forms — in Systam Studio and in Systam Mobile alike.

That's it — now you'll capture exactly the details your organization needs.
