Having trouble with your Systam Rooms display? This guide walks you through the most common issues and how to fix them.
Before you start: physical access matters
Rooms displays don't have remote management or remote support built in. That means most fixes need someone with physical access to the display, usually your own IT team.
If you can, always start with a simple restart — unplug the display, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in. This solves more problems than you'd expect.
Connecting the display to your network
The Rooms display works over both a network cable and Wi-Fi.
- Network cable (PoE): plug in an ethernet cable — the display gets both power and network from the same cable, nothing else needed.
- Wi-Fi: open the Android settings by pressing the power button once, then the volume-down button once. Enter the PIN 1234. Go to Network, pick your network from the list, and enter the password. If your network name doesn't show up (hidden network), add it manually under Add network with the exact network name and security type.
Display is online, but bookings don't show up
If the network connection looks fine but the calendar isn't syncing, check these three things in Systam Studio first:
- The right Calendar provider is signed in — go to Studio → Calendar providers and confirm the service account is connected.
- Your organization's admin has approved the Systam app in your tenant.
- The room is linked to the correct resource email address in Studio.
For the full calendar setup steps, see Setting up Systam Rooms with Microsoft 365.
Firewall is blocking the connection
The Rooms display needs to reach api.systam.io. If a display can't connect to Systam at all — even though your regular internet connection works fine — ask your IT team to make sure your firewall allows connections to api.systam.io.
App won't start, or the screen looks wrong
If the Rooms app doesn't launch, shows a red screen, or seems stuck, clear the app's data:
- Open the Android settings: press the power button once, then the volume-down button once. Enter the PIN 1234.
- Go to Apps and find Systam Rooms.
- Open Storage and select Clear data and Clear cache.
- Restart the display.
If the problem continues, make sure the display is running a supported Android version — very old Android versions can't run the current Rooms app properly.
Still stuck after trying all of this? Reach out to Systam support and let us know which display it is — the room name and location help us get to the bottom of it faster.
That's it — your Rooms displays should be back on track.
